Be The Change
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world”
These words, spoken by a true revolutionary, hold the same impact and meaning as they did several years ago when spoken by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
The South Asian Alliance give you the opportunity to Be The Change, yourself and take part in the ROGERS South Asian Alliance Culture Show 2010. With a focus of giving back to the community, we would like to help those in need and raise awareness for causes of importance to South Asians and Canadians alike.
In 2009, the South Asian Alliance Culture Show had the opportunity to focus on the growing Canadian epidemic of Cancer, in collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society. The South Asian Alliance Culture Show helped raise awareness of the issue that affects so many in our community and will hopefully encourage students, young professionals and community members to Be The Change in their own lives and others for the fight against Cancer. Last year in a 15 minute live donation drive we were able to donate $2000 to the Cancer Society. Since then, our members have further participated in events such as Relay for Life and the Run for the Cure. This year we are excited to once again be working in collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society in a unique advocacy campaign towards healthy living practices as well a look into cancer and its affect on youth.
Taking place at the beautiful and prestigious Hershey Center in Mississauga, Ontario. Having a show in the diversity capital of the world and a North American South Asian hub, SAA invites you to experience the elements of an unforgettable weekend experience! |
